Extract from letter from Carol A. Rehfisch to Miss Paul.
October 28, 1923

Mrs. Kent has probably reported to you that a number of us called upon Senator Shortridge the other day. I thought that Mrs. Kent presented the amendment to him very well and that Miss Clements't discussion of the effect of the minimum wage law was quite effective.
It occurred to me in this connection that Miss Clements might supply you with an article on this subject, if you cared to ask her for one. She writes very well, and has the Woman's Party cause much at heart. I believe that she has not, however, very much spare time.
The Senator seemed quite unusually rational to me, and has already had some opposition to the amendment presented to him. He questioned the wording, which was fair enough - and glowed at the recollection of an evening at Miss Younger's. This susceptibility might be of value, but I suppose that in the last analysis, votes will be what count with this oracle.
