Banner is sewn of purple cotton sateen, folded over and machine-hemmed in lavender thread on all four sides. Lettering is painted in gold with white "shadowing." A flat tube of unbleached muslin is attached to top edge of reverse side of banner with dark purple thread in a running stitch, probably for hanging.

Rectangular tricolor banner in vertical bands of yellow ("gold"), white, and purple ("violet") wool. Each strip is attached to the next with flat-felled seams and the banner is hemmed at either side. At one edge is a white cotton twill hanging tube with metal grommets at either end. A white cord is tied through one of the grommets in a frayed knot. The hanging strip has a few holes cut near the grommets, probably for the insertion of a cord.

Silk is folded over at top to form a hanging tube, interfaced with cotton muslin. At each side of hanging tube is a leather loop with a piece of cord looped through it. Each strip is french-seamed to the next and the banner is hemmed at either side. Bottom edge of strips are selvage edges.

At one edge is white cotton twill hanging tube with a purple stamped label reading "Copeland Makers Washington." In 1999 it was flown in space by Astronaut Ellen Ochoa aboard Space Shuttle Discovery, STS 96.

Wide rectangular banner of beige cotton sateen with yellow wool gauze border and faded black lettering reading "We demand the Susan B. Anthony Amendment for the enfranchisement of women." Banner is reversible and has same design on both sides with a layer of heavy cotton interlining between the two sateen layers. Yellow border has mitered corners. There are three braided ties, possibly silk, at the right edge and two (originally three) at the left edge for hanging on poles.

The lettering appears to have originally read "Republican," but a leg was added to the "P" to make it an "R" after the banner was originally made. Curved bottom is edged in yellow fringe. Top of banner is nailed to a finished wooden pole to which a hanging cord is knotted.
