Description Rectangular banner of green silk with black wool applique lettering reading "District of Columbia" in capitals. Banner is rectangular with points at bottom edge, backed in dark green cotton sateen painted brown for stiffening on inner side, with paint visible through losses in front fabric. Five black silk ribbon ties at top and one long silk rope attached to each bottom corner, possibly for holding banner in place.
