Description Framed portrait of Jane McKnight Goode (1856-1934) painted in oil on canvas by Silas Jerome Uhl (1842-1916). In the portrait, Mrs. Goode's brown hair is in a bun, and she is wearing a white ruffled collar top. The sitter is looking to her left against a white background. The ornate wood frame is gilt. This portrait was painted from life sittings in spring 1893, and completed May, 1894, in Washington, DC. Provenance Presented by Samuel Andrew Bowman, Conference Cooperation Chairman, in May-June 1971. Mr. Bowman was cousin to, and co-executor of, the estate of the sitter's daughter, Edith Jeanette Goode (1882-1970).
